fight supremacy

I had asked Erica to post here, however she is nervous that an internet full of trolls will ruin what turned out to be a mostly positive day for us.  For me I feel we stood shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors as part of a resistance to racism and bigotry.  I was glad to participate and document in my own way.

Soon after leaving Boston Commons and the Fight Supremacy event Erica and I returned to restaurant where I introduced her to guacamole in the late 90’s.  At the restaurant while waiting for guacamole I posted on Instagram a photo of a woman holding a sign saying “no hate know peace”.  Almost immediately an internet troll commented:

“What is peace? I want your definition”

I thought about responding a number of different ways… however for me, at the moment I had only a singular response.  I choose a pretty commonly accepted way of determining the definition of our words.  The dictionary:

Definition of peace

  1. 1 :  a state of tranquility or quiet: such asa :  freedom from civil disturbance Peace and order were finally restored in the town.b :  a state of security or order within a community provided for by law or custom a breach of the peace

  2. 2 :  freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions I have been in perfect peace and contentment — J. H. Newman

  3. 3 :  harmony in personal relations The sisters are at peace with each other.

  4. 4a :  a state or period of mutual concord between governments There was a peace of 50 years before war broke out again.b :  a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity offered the possibility of a negotiated peace — New York Times

  5. 5 —used interjectionally to ask for silence or calm or as a greeting or farewell

at peace

  1. :  in a state of concord or tranquility The problem was settled and his mind was at peace.

I would be very pleased to add your thoughts in support of these photographs, peace, against racism, against hate and the Fight Supremacy event below here.  Message me at ben@benshotme.com or through any of the other methods the Internets provide.  Trolls will not be tolerated.

And with that I will let the photographs do the talking.
